Financial Aid
Cost Should Shape the Plan — Never Kill the Dream.
Financial aid is one of the four milestone areas in every Texas College Prep roadmap. Students and families learn what to file, when to file it, and how to compare what comes back — in plain language, on a calendar that starts early enough to matter.
The Four Pieces of the Aid Puzzle
FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid unlocks federal grants, work-study, and loans — and most institutional aid. Nearly every pathway milestone plan includes a FAFSA task the fall it opens.
TASFA
The Texas Application for State Financial Aid serves Texas students who are not eligible to file the FAFSA. Your roadmap assigns the application that actually fits your situation.
Grants & Scholarships
Money you never pay back comes first: federal and state grants, institutional merit aid, and local scholarships. Weekly tasks keep a running scholarship calendar so deadlines stop sneaking up.
Comparing Offers
When award letters arrive, the roadmap milestone shifts to comparison: real cost after grants, loan totals at graduation, and what each offer means for your family — side by side.
Deadlines move every year. USI never hard-codes admissions or aid deadlines into program content — your roadmap milestones point you to the official federal, state, and institutional sources for the current cycle's dates.
Guidance, not financial advice. USI advisors help families understand the process and organize the work. Award decisions and final financial choices always remain with the family and the institutions involved.
