Community Service

We don't just live in our community — we build it.

Community service is how our mentees turn their growth outward. Through team-based projects, reflection circles, and seasonal events, participants develop civic identity and learn that leadership means serving others.

What This Looks Like

Service is the natural extension of everything our program teaches. When young people develop discipline, accountability, and communication skills, the next step is to use those skills to lift up their community.

Our service projects are seasonal and team-based. Mentees plan, organize, and execute projects together — from neighborhood cleanups to food drives to reading circles at community centers. Every project includes a pre-service planning session and a post-service reflection discussion.

This isn't about checking a box. It's about building an identity as someone who gives back. When a young person sees the direct impact of their effort on their own neighborhood, something shifts. They stop seeing themselves as recipients and start seeing themselves as contributors.

Service is how you prove to yourself that you have something valuable to give.
