Apply for Mentorship

A Clear Path from Application to an Active Mentorship

Beyond Breakfast mentorship follows a deliberate, transparent workflow so families always know exactly where they stand. And one promise never changes: accepted scholars never pay — sponsorship and donations cover every seat.

The Mentorship Journey — Nine Stages

Every application moves through the same governed workflow, managed by program staff. No stage is skipped — especially consent and screening.

  1. 01

    Applied

A scholar (or a parent/guardian for minors) submits the application with basic information, goals, and the track that fits — Youth (ages 8–18) or Young Adult (ages 19–24).

  2. 02

    Consent Complete

For minors, a parent or guardian completes the required consent documents — participation consent, photo/media release preferences, and safety acknowledgments — before anything else moves forward.

  3. 03

    Intake Complete

Program staff hold a short intake conversation to understand the scholar's interests, needs, schedule, and what a great mentor match would look like.

  4. 04

    Approved

The application is reviewed and approved by program staff. Sponsorship covers the scholar's seat — accepted scholars and their families never pay to participate.

  5. 05

    Matching

Staff identify screened, background-checked mentor candidates whose experience, availability, and interests align with the scholar's intake profile.

  6. 06

    Matched

A proposed match is confirmed with the mentor and the family. Everyone knows who the mentor is, how sessions work, and how communication is supervised.

  7. 07

    Active

The mentorship is underway — regular sessions, journaling, goal check-ins, and program events, all inside the program's supervised structure.

  8. 08

    Paused

Life happens. A match can be paused for travel, season schedules, or family circumstances and resumed without starting over.

  9. 09

    Completed

When a mentorship reaches its natural close, it is completed with a final reflection and evaluation — and scholars can continue in the program with new goals or a new match.

Consent Comes First for Minors

No minor advances past the application stage until a parent or guardian completes participation consent, states photo and media preferences, and acknowledges the program's safety policies. Consent records are kept on file and can be reviewed with program staff at any time.

Every Seat Is Sponsored
