Individual Learning Plan
One Plan, Built Around One Scholar.
After placement, every C84 scholar receives an Individual Learning Plan (ILP): a living document that maps their competency profile across the eight-week journey, updates as mastery data comes in, and travels with them into tutoring, enrichment, and family reporting.
How the Plan Works
Mastery, Not Just Grades
The C84 gradebook is mastery-oriented. Every activity maps to a competency, and progress means moving a skill from Beginning toward Advanced — not chasing a single letter grade.
Weekly Rhythm
Five daily lessons and assignments per week, a vocabulary spiral, at least one written response and one learner reflection, and a Friday mastery check — every single week.
Targeted Remediation
When a mastery check shows a gap, remediation reopens only the skills still below target — scholars never repeat whole weeks of material they have already mastered. Accelerated paths extend scholars who are ready for more.
The C84 Growth Rubric
Every scholar is coached across five domains. Families see the same language instructors use — no mystery scores.
| Domain | Advanced | Mastered | Developing | Beginning |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Comprehension | Synthesizes ideas and supports interpretations with precise evidence | Correctly identifies ideas and uses relevant evidence | Partial understanding or inconsistent evidence | Misunderstands central ideas or lacks evidence |
| Written Response | Clear claim, strong evidence, developed reasoning, polished conventions | Relevant claim, evidence, and understandable reasoning | Partial claim/evidence or weak organization | Response does not adequately address the task |
| Fluency | Accurate, appropriately paced, expressive, and self-correcting | Consistently accurate with functional phrasing and prosody | Inconsistent accuracy or phrasing | Significant decoding or accuracy barriers |
| Vocabulary | Applies vocabulary flexibly in new contexts | Correctly defines and applies target terms | Recognizes terms but application is inconsistent | Limited recognition or inaccurate use |
| Learning Habits | Independently prepared, reflective, and persistent | Consistently participates and completes required tasks | Requires recurring prompting | Frequently disengaged or incomplete |
Mastery Expectations
C84 currently operates with an 84% daily-assignment mastery expectation and an 80% weekly-quiz threshold, with a parent progress report generated every week. These benchmarks are institutional settings maintained by USI academic leadership — they are reviewed by the Chief of Academics rather than fixed in software, so the program can evolve without disrupting scholars mid-semester.
