Program Overview
What grades does C84 Kids Academy serve?
C84 Kids Academy serves scholars in grades 4, 5, and 6. The curriculum is built specifically for this age group’s reading development.
What's included in the 8-week curriculum?
The Reading Fundamentals curriculum covers main idea and key details, character analysis and story elements, vocabulary in context, inference and drawing conclusions, author’s purpose and point of view, text structure, figurative language and literary devices, and synthesis with written critical response — with daily lessons, daily assignments, weekly quizzes, and a final exam.
What are the program hours?
Monday through Friday, 3:00–5:30 PM: check-in and attendance, snack and reset, one hour of Reading Fundamentals, practice and homework support, enrichment/SEL, and supervised pickup with authorized-contact verification.
Assessments & Grading
How does the placement assessment work?
Every scholar starts with a 40-question diagnostic covering 8 skill categories. The results determine the starting level and personalize the 8-week curriculum to each scholar’s strengths and growth areas.
What are the grading thresholds?
Daily assignments are 25 questions with an 84% passing threshold and immediate feedback. Weekly quizzes are cumulative 20-question reviews with an 80% passing threshold and unlimited retakes. The final exam is a 40-question comprehensive assessment across all 8 weeks.
What happens after the final exam?
Week 8 closes the journey with the final exam, level advancement or completion, certificates, and a celebration of every scholar’s growth. Scholars may then advance to their next reading level.
Student Accounts & IDs
What is a Student ID and how is it used?
Each scholar receives a unique Student ID (format: C84-XXXX-XXXX) in their profile after email verification. Parents use this ID to link to their child’s account and view progress, attendance, and reports.
How do scholars sign in?
All sign-in is brokered through the USI Hub — C84 does not run a separate account system, and does not independently collect children’s personally identifiable information. Parents create and control accounts at the Hub.
Parents & Guardians
How does parent linking work?
Create a Parent/Guardian account, verify your email, then enter your child’s Student ID (C84-XXXX-XXXX) in your parent dashboard. You can link multiple children by adding additional IDs — each child’s data stays separate and private.
When are weekly progress reports sent?
Automated progress reports arrive every Sunday at 6:00 AM CT, covering lessons completed, quiz scores, attendance, badges earned, streak status, and growth areas — by email plus an in-app archive.
Badges & Motivation
How do badges and streaks work?
Scholars earn badges for milestones and maintain daily streaks that reward showing up and completing work. Badges, streaks, and milestone celebrations appear in the scholar’s profile and in the weekly parent report.
Attendance & Check-In/Out
How does daily attendance work?
Scholars check in at 3:00 PM with attendance status recorded (present, tardy, excused). Check-out is logged at pickup with the method noted (parent, approved adult, bus). Parents can view the full attendance history in their dashboard, and attendance is included in weekly Sunday reports.
How does pickup authorization work?
Parents manage an approved pickup contact list — name, relationship, phone number, and allowed pickup days for each contact. No student is released without verification against that list; administrators can override only in emergencies, and every override is logged.
What happens if there's an incident?
All incidents are documented with timestamps, categories, and resolution notes, with controlled visibility and parent notifications.
Instructors & Admin
How do instructors get approved?
Instructor applications are routed into a pending approval queue for safety. Administrator approval is required before any instructor dashboard access is granted.
