1-on-1 Tutoring

Personalized Academic Support Tailored to Your Scholar

Dedicated one-on-one time with a trained tutor who identifies gaps, builds skills, and accelerates growth. Every session is customized to the scholar's specific needs and learning style.

  • Identify and close individual learning gaps through targeted instruction
  • Accelerate reading growth with personalized pacing and strategies
  • Build confidence through patient, encouraging 1-on-1 attention
  • Develop metacognitive skills: self-monitoring, self-correction, and goal-setting

Check-In (3 min)

Review goals from last session, assess current mood and readiness to learn

Warm-Up (5 min)

Quick fluency reading or vocabulary review to activate prior knowledge

Targeted Instruction (15 min)

Focus area based on assessment data — phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, or writing

Guided Practice (5 min)

Scholar applies new skill with tutor support, immediate feedback and correction

Wrap-Up (2 min)

Summarize what was learned, set goals for next session, celebrate progress

Focus Areas

Phonics & Decoding

Multi-syllable word analysis, vowel patterns, consonant blends, and word attack strategies

  • Triggered when: below grade-level decoding accuracy

Vocabulary Development

Tier 2 academic vocabulary, context clue strategies, morphemic analysis (prefixes, roots, suffixes)

  • Triggered when: limited vocabulary breadth on placement

Reading Comprehension

Main idea identification, inference skills, summarization, and text evidence citing

  • Triggered when: below 70% on comprehension assessments

Fluency Building

Oral reading rate, accuracy, and expression practice with progress monitoring

  • Triggered when: below 100 WCPM (words correct per minute)

Written Response

Constructing text-dependent answers, paragraph organization, and evidence-based writing

  • Triggered when: difficulty with open-response assessment items
