Enrichment Activities

Beyond the Classroom — Expanding Horizons Every Day

Enrichment activities go beyond academics to build well-rounded scholars. From fluency circles and read-alouds to journaling and character education, these sessions nurture social-emotional growth alongside intellectual curiosity. Semester themes are maintained as editable program content.

Daily during Enrichment Block (4:50–5:15 PM)25 minutes daily4–6

Learning Objectives

  • Develop social-emotional skills through character education and group discussions
  • Build reading fluency and expression through oral reading activities
  • Foster creativity and self-expression through journaling and storytelling
  • Strengthen community bonds through collaborative group projects

Weekly Rotation

Monday

Fluency Circle

Scholars take turns reading aloud from selected texts, practicing expression, pacing, and pronunciation with peer feedback.

Tuesday

Character Education

Guided discussions on values like respect, responsibility, perseverance, and empathy using real-world scenarios and role-playing.

Wednesday

Creative Journaling

Scholars respond to themed writing prompts, illustrate ideas, and share entries. Topics range from personal goals to imaginative storytelling.

Thursday

Read-Aloud & Discussion

Instructor reads from a chapter book or picture book, followed by comprehension questions, predictions, and group discussion.

Friday

Showcase & Celebration

End-of-week sharing: scholars present journal entries, perform fluency readings, or showcase projects. Peer recognition and encouragement.
