Athletics & Fitness

Active Bodies, Focused Minds — Movement That Matters

Physical activity is essential for young learners. Our athletics program combines structured fitness, team sports, and movement games to build coordination, teamwork, and healthy habits.

C84 Athletics & Fitness is an age-appropriate enrichment component for younger scholars inside C84 Kids Academy. It is distinct from Panther Performance Pass, the Institute’s dedicated athletic-performance pillar.

Learning Objectives

  • Build cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility through age-appropriate exercises
  • Develop teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership through team activities
  • Improve focus and classroom behavior through regular physical activity
  • Introduce fundamental skills in multiple sports and movement disciplines

Semester Curriculum — Summer: Summer Games

Unit 1 · Weeks 1–3

Track & Field Fundamentals

  • Sprint technique and relay races
  • Standing long jump and high jump basics
  • Throwing form (foam javelin, softball)
  • Mini-Olympics with personal best tracking

Unit 2 · Weeks 4–6

Team Handball & Kickball

  • Handball rules and strategy
  • Kickball league with rotating captains
  • Sportsmanship discussions and fair play pledges
  • End-of-unit tournament

Unit 3 · Weeks 7–9

Outdoor Adventure Games

  • Capture the flag variations
  • Scavenger hunts with fitness challenges
  • Obstacle course relay
  • Nature walk and mindful movement

Semester Curriculum — Fall: Team Sports Season

Unit 1 · Weeks 1–4

Flag Football Fundamentals

  • Throwing and catching drills
  • Route running and defensive positioning
  • Flag-pulling technique and agility ladders
  • Intra-program scrimmage games

Unit 2 · Weeks 5–8

Basketball Basics

  • Dribbling, passing, and shooting form
  • 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 games
  • Free-throw challenges and shooting contests
  • Basketball IQ: basic plays and court awareness

Unit 3 · Weeks 9–13

Fitness & Flexibility

  • Yoga for kids: balance and breathing
  • Bodyweight circuit training (age-appropriate)
  • Flexibility testing and goal setting
  • Dance fitness and movement expression

Semester Curriculum — Spring: Spring Into Action

Unit 1 · Weeks 1–4

Soccer Skills

  • Dribbling, passing, and shooting drills
  • Small-sided games (4v4, 5v5)
  • Positional play and teamwork exercises
  • Mini-league with standings and sportsmanship awards

Unit 2 · Weeks 5–8

Jump Rope & Agility

  • Single rope techniques (basic to advanced)
  • Double Dutch introduction
  • Agility ladder drills and cone courses
  • Jump rope challenges and personal records

Unit 3 · Weeks 9–13

Field Day Preparation

  • Multi-sport station rotations
  • Team-building relay challenges
  • Personal fitness assessments and progress celebrations
  • End-of-year Field Day event
